I get an awful lot of quotes about people who have cheated on each other. But this guy has entwined his infidelity with a “blame-the-victim” mentality in a way I’ve never seen before.

I think the once thing speaks to the naivety; blame the victim for not knowing any better. Then he blames her again for not adding up to everything he wanted.
My ex told me when I finally confronted him about cheating and why he hadn’t been honest with me (since we had an agreement that we would be honest about it, which my naive self thought we would be), he said “Because you never asked.” As if for the rest of my life I was just supposed to ask my significant others “Did you cheat on me?” “Yes, babe I love you too and uhhh did you cheat on me?” “What a lovely day it is, btw did you cheat on me?” It’s ridiculous, but the fact of the matter is they are trying to make their “love” feel like shit because they feel like shit. It doesn’t by any means make it right, but anything that comes out as a reason is going to be utter crap. At least that’s what I think.
