Yep . . .That IS what he said.

The idea for this site was born when its creator got dumped. After a week of weeping into her pillow, she decided to try and gain some perspective by writing down the hurtful things her ex had said to her. That list began to grow to include quotes from other old boyfriends and snuffed flames, and very quickly she realized: All these quotes were hurtful, yes, but they were also very funny.

The list kept growing, and she reached out to her network of girlfriends. Did they have quotes, too? Anything an ex had said that stuck with them, but was so outrageous that deserved be recognized as the superlative of stupid? YES!

And so, Things My Ex Said became a thing. Take a look, laugh, cry, or take a sigh of relief that these things weren’t said to you. Or if they were, submit your own quote and we’ll create a comic.

. . . All of these scenarios have two things in common: a stupid line, and the person who listened to it. Hopefully if someone says something hurtful, inappropriate, or downright abusive to you, you’ve got the sense to remove yourself from the situation. But if not, or if you’re not sure, I hope this site will help you. It took me living through many of the quotes on this website to figure it out. It’s time to stop making excuses for pricks. So come on in, share the catharsis, and let’s laugh through the pain.

I would like to nominate you for Blog of the Year 2013. Not only have you cartoonised some of the most surreal experiences of my life but you never fail to make me laugh! I have reblogged you on my page several times because of this. Keep up the good work exposing the douchebaggery that we seem to be caught in and I look forward to more in the new year!

Thank you so much!! I have so much fun with the site and it’s making my year that people are enjoying it too, and relating to it! Strange to think about this time a year ago I was going through the break up that inspired it all. 😉 Lemonade out of lemons, I say!! Your quotes have been so important to the site and while I hope that you never get any new horrible quotes said to you, I hope you keep coming back to share the laugh!

Really cool idea! LOL I love it! 🙂 I mean, it is awful when the ones we love hurt us and say hurtful things to us, but you are right, sometimes the things they say are pretty absurd. x
